Getting unknown, untold stories onto the stage

Hello! My name is Jade Samuels and I'm a Midlands based, Mixed Race (Jamaican/Irish) creative whose goal is simple: To tell the stories that aren't being platformed. My producing work is diverse, my Drama School lecturing is intentional and impactful. Theatre is at the core of my beliefs; it's magic and it's power to transform. The aim is to lead with kindness and clarity

I want to produce work that represents the world in which the marginalised live; work that reflects what has been but honours what is to come.

From R&D through to full production, bespoke support will be on offer to artists around their needs, ideas and processes. The privilege of producing is providing artists with the space and resource to focus on their work, support can be offered to your production to become fully realised at whatever phase of the project you require support

The aim is to foster long-lasting creative relationships with arts organisations & freelancers, and I'm always open to hearing from new creative collaborators, particularly artists from underrepresented backgrounds. If you have a new project in need of a producer, get in touch!

Services

There are a range of services available depending on your creative need

Theatre Producing

Whether it be nothing more then a seed of an idea or a fully realised show that needs support to bring it to stage, I have extensive experience supporting shows at various stages. Nominated for a 2024 Black British Theatre Award, my practice is artist led, with kindness at it's centre.

ACE fundraising

I have fundraised just under 1 million pounds through ACE project grants for UK based artists over the past 4 years. I'm also a registered access support worker and regularly translate artists with barries' vision into an ACE bid. The belief that everyone should have access to funding for art is a core value

Drama School Lecturing

I've worked in accredited drama schools for 5 years. Teaching Acting, my practice is steeped in the students finding their own voices within their artistry. Currently an Acting Lecturer at Performers College Birmingham as well as Acting Lecturer/acting tutor at Mountview in Birmingham, and recently directed their in-house musical projects Sweet Charity and Wonderland, my specialist subject is Improvisation.

Two Pints by Roddy Doyle

Producer, Coventry Belgrade

In their Dublin local, two old friends meet regularly for good conversation, good craic and more than a few good pints.

As the Guinness flows, these barstool philosophers put the world to rights by sharing their honest and often hilarious thoughts on life’s big topics – fatherhood, death and whether Nigella or Kylie would make the better Midfielder…

Blisteringly funny, but packing an emotional punch, Two Pints explores the friendship between two men of a certain vintage as they attempt to support each other through life’s triumphs and tragedies, one pint at a time.

This sharp observational comedy was written by award-winning Irish author Roddy Doyle

Romeo & Juliet directed by Corey Campbell. Lyrics by That's A Rap. Music by A Class.

Producer, Coventry Belgrade

The original play, originally scored – with rap and R&B.

Some aspects of this new, innovative co-production of Romeo and Juliet aren’t new at all.

This is unmistakeably Shakespeare’s love story, largely unaltered in its original text. But it’s not just Shakespeare’s play. There is an important Plus One: rap.

Romeo and Juliet was a co-production with Bristol Old Vic and Hackney Empire. Directed by Corey Campbell, creative director of the Belgrade, the play springs from Belgrade communities. The music elements reflect a collaboration with new company, That’s a Rap and Belgrade who worked with local young people taken out of mainstream education, on the production.

The Architect Presented By GDIF & Actors Touring Company

Creative Producer

The Architect was an immersive theatrical journey through time and a city conceived by Mojisola Adebayo, Roy Williams and Matthew Xia, and created with a collective of leading Black artists including Bola Agbaje, Dexter Flanders, Vanessa Macauley and XANA.

Audiences travelled aboard an iconic red bus and were transported across South-East London. This new production asked how we create a blueprint for the future, three decades after the senseless murder of Stephen Lawrence.

Rapsody by Corey Weekes & Oli Dunbar

Producer

2022 recipient of the Pleasance’s Charlie Hartill Theatre Reserve, Vision Production Company took a raw look at inner-city life in Britain today in their debut show Rapsody. Elz, Jams, Toni and latest arrival Jaime, confront the realities of our modern-day class system through live rap, trap and drill. Living in a hostel and battling impossible odds, their worlds are upended by the arrival of a newcomer from a privileged background, with deeply held religious beliefs. As the dynamics of the hostel begin to shift, all four struggle to get by, rapping the things they can't bring themselves to say. And, although they all want things to change, none of them know the right words to ask for help. Over the course of a few days, their personal and collective journeys are shifted beyond repair; this play asks if these changes are fulfilling or even more damaging. Telling the story of those living in precarious housing conditions, the music of rap allows them to speak their truth when words just aren’t enough.
